Future XV energy: Mastercard x Zintle Mpupha

Some recognitions go beyond the moment. They signal trajectory, influence, and the direction a sport is moving.

For Zintle Mpupha, being named as part of Mastercard’s Future XV ahead of the 2023 Rugby World Cup was exactly that — a global acknowledgement of impact, both on and off the field.

Represented alongside a select group of athletes and changemakers shaping the future of rugby, Mpupha stood not only as a competitor, but as a voice within the evolving story of the women’s game. A player whose influence extends beyond tries, tackles and match-day performances into visibility, representation and inspiration.

The Future XV initiative reflects Mastercard’s broader commitment to the game — recognising individuals who are driving rugby forward through leadership, community impact and performance at the highest level. It is not simply about who is already established, but about who is shaping what comes next.

For Mpupha, this alignment sits naturally within her journey. A Springbok Women’s Sevens and Fifteens international known for her physical presence, intelligence in contact, and ability to influence momentum, she embodies the modern athlete — grounded in performance, but defined equally by presence and purpose.

The recognition ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023 placed her within a global narrative of growth for the women’s game. One where visibility is expanding, investment is increasing, and athletes are increasingly being seen as full-spectrum contributors to sport and culture.

It is within this context that Mastercard’s Future XV becomes more than a campaign. It becomes a platform — one that elevates athletes who represent where the game is going, not just where it has been.

For KDT Agency, this moment reflects a consistent thread across modern athlete storytelling: the most powerful partnerships are those that acknowledge both performance and influence. Where athletes are not only measured by caps or statistics, but by the impact they create in the spaces around the game.

Because the future of rugby is not just being played.

It is being shaped.

And Zintle Mpupha is already part of that formation.
